Burger wrapped in printed greaseproof paper

What is custom printed greaseproof paper?

Greaseproof paper is a paper treated to resist oil and grease, so it can touch hot, fatty food without going see-through or falling apart. In food service it's used to wrap burgers and sandwiches, line boxes and baskets, and separate food.

Printed greaseproof is one of the easiest ways to add branding to your food itself. It's the paper your customer unwraps, holds and photographs, and a repeated logo pattern makes even simple food look considered.

Not all greaseproof behaves the same. A light sheet is ideal for lining a basket, while a juicy burger that's wrapped tight and travels needs something heavier. We'll recommend the right paper and size for how you use it, and you test a sample before production.

Who uses printed greaseproof paper?

Burger shops wrapping burgers, fish and chip shops lining trays and cones, takeaways lining boxes, bakeries wrapping pastries and cafés serving sandwiches. Many businesses use one printed sheet across several products.

Choices

Greaseproof paper options, explained

  • Lighter greaseproof

Ideal for lining baskets and trays, and for drier food. Economical for high volumes.

Lighter greaseproof is typically in the lower range of paper weights (gsm). Lighter paper is thinner and more flexible.

  • Heavier greaseproof

For wrapping juicy burgers and saucy food tightly, or food that travels. Holds up better and feels more substantial in the hand.

A higher gsm paper, which is thicker and more resistant.

  • Pattern print

A small repeating logo or pattern across the sheet. Always shows your brand, however the sheet is folded.

  • Single design

One larger design in the middle of the sheet. Best when the sheet is laid flat, for example in a basket.

See it. Test it. Approve it.Once you're happy with the quote, we send a sample to test with your own food before production.
How it works
Choosing

How to choose the right greaseproof paper

  • 01

    Wrapping or lining?

Wrapping a burger needs a stronger, larger sheet than lining a basket.

  • 02

    How saucy is the food?

Juicy burgers and heavy sauces need a heavier paper so grease doesn't soak through.

  • 03

    How is it folded?

If the sheet is scrunched or folded, a repeating pattern keeps your logo visible.

  • 04

Could one sheet cover several uses?

One well chosen size can often wrap burgers and line baskets, which keeps ordering simple.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Paper too light for the food

Light greaseproof around a juicy burger can go translucent and tear. Match the weight to the food.

  • Sheets that are too small

If the sheet doesn't fully wrap the burger, sauce escapes. Test the size with your biggest burger.

  • One big logo that disappears when folded

A central logo can end up hidden in a fold. For wrapping, a repeat pattern usually works better.
