What are custom burger boxes?
A burger box is the hinged box your burger is served in, for eating in, collection or delivery. It keeps the burger together, holds in heat, stops sauce and grease reaching your customer's hands and, when it's printed, puts your brand in front of everyone who picks it up.
A good burger box is sized to your burger rather than the other way round. Too big and the burger slides about and arrives lopsided. Too small and the lid presses into the bun. It also needs to be strong enough for what's inside: a single patty and a loaded double stack with sauce put very different demands on a box.
We make custom burger boxes around your food. You tell us what you serve and how it leaves your kitchen, we recommend the size, board and closure that suit it, and you approve a physical sample before full production starts.
Who uses printed burger boxes?
Independent burger shops, burger takeaways, restaurants and chains that want their packaging to look like their brand rather than a generic white box. They're also widely used by chicken shops, grills, street food traders and cafés that serve burgers alongside other food.
Businesses with a strong delivery trade use printed burger boxes because the box is often the first thing a new customer sees. It arrives at their door before they've ever visited your shop.
Burger box styles we make
Hinged burger box
The classic clamshell: a base and lid joined at the back, closed with a front tab or lock. Quick to fill, stays shut in a delivery bag and gives you a big lid to print on.
Best for: Most burger shops, collection and delivery
Pre-glued burger box
Supplied flat with the corners already glued, so it pops into shape in a second. Ideal when your team is filling hundreds of boxes during a rush.
Best for: High-volume kitchens and busy delivery shifts
Burger box with lid
A deeper box with a lid that sits over the base, giving tall and stacked burgers more room so the lid never presses into the bun.
Best for: Tall, stacked and loaded burgers

Flower burger box
When the lid opens, the sides fold down like petals so the burger sits on a flat, open base. Easy to eat from, nothing gets squashed lifting it out, and it makes a memorable reveal.
Best for: Premium and loaded burgers, eye-catching presentation
Open burger tray
A low-sided tray with no lid, so the burger is on show. Great for eating in, street food and serving straight from the pass, often paired with printed greaseproof paper.
Best for: Eat-in, street food and events
Burger box sizes
| Size | Dimensions (W x D x H) | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Regular | 11 x 11 x 6 cm | Single patty, smash and chicken burgers |
| Large | 13 x 13 x 7 cm | Double stacks, loaded and gourmet burgers |
| Custom | Made to your burger | Oversized, signature or burger-and-side boxes |
Regular and large are the most common burger box sizes in the UK and a good starting point. We make every style in any size, so tell us your bun width and the height of your tallest burger and we'll confirm the right dimensions. Minimum order: 10,000 units.

What you can customise on your burger boxes
Size
Choose from standard sizes or have a box made to fit your burger. If you're not sure, tell us your bun size and how tall your biggest burger stands, or send us your current box, and we'll work it out.
Printing and design
Print your logo, brand colours and artwork on the outside, and on the inside if you want a surprise when the lid opens. No artwork yet? We'll design it with you at no extra cost.
Strength and material
A lighter box suits a single burger eaten on the spot. Heavy, saucy burgers or long delivery journeys need something more rigid. We match the board to your food rather than defaulting to the heaviest option.
Closure and structure
Choose from hinged, pre-glued, lidded, flower and open tray styles. We'll advise on the one that stays shut in a delivery bag and is quick for your team to fold during a rush.
Finish
Natural kraft for an earthy, handmade look, or white board for bright, full-colour printing. We'll talk you through how each finish shows your design.
Grease resistance
Burgers with sauces and oils need a box that won't go soft or show grease marks. We'll recommend the right level of resistance for what you serve.
Burger box options, explained
Standard strength
Right for most single burgers, eat-in trade and short collection orders. Keeps costs sensible without feeling flimsy in the hand.
Usually a folding boxboard (a solid card, like a cereal box but made for food). Card thickness is often described by weight in gsm; a higher number means a stiffer box.
Stronger, more rigid
For double stacks, loaded burgers, heavy sauces or orders that travel a distance on delivery. Holds its shape when bags are stacked and keeps heat in for longer.
Often a thin corrugated board (a card with a fluted layer inside, like a very fine cardboard box). The flute adds rigidity and insulation without adding much weight.
Standard sizes
The quickest route if your burgers are a typical size. Good for new businesses and for trying printed packaging for the first time.
Custom size
Made to your burger's exact footprint and height. Worth it for signature or oversized burgers where a snug fit keeps everything in place.
Kraft finish
A natural brown look that suits rustic, street food and eco-minded brands. Designs with bold, simple artwork tend to work best on kraft.
White finish
A clean background that makes colours bright and detailed artwork sharp. Best if your brand uses strong colours or photography.
How to choose the right burger box
- 01
What goes inside?
A single smash burger and a loaded triple stack need different boxes. Tell us your biggest and most common burger, including height with toppings.
- 02
How does it leave your kitchen?
Eaten on site, collected, or delivered twenty minutes away? The longer the journey and the more boxes stacked in a bag, the more strength you need.
- 03
Is it just the burger, or a side too?
If fries or a side go in the same box, a larger box or a meal deal box with compartments may suit you better than a standard burger box.
- 04
How wet or saucy is your food?
Heavy sauces, cheese and dripping burgers need better grease resistance. Drier burgers can use a simpler specification.
- 05
How many do you use?
Your weekly or monthly usage helps us recommend order quantities and whether UK storage makes sense, so you're not filling your premises with boxes.
- 06
What's your budget per box?
Tell us what you're aiming for. We'll explain what's achievable and where spending a little more makes a real difference, and where it doesn't.
Common burger box mistakes to avoid
Choosing the box before measuring the burger
Buying a size because it looks right in a catalogue often leads to burgers sliding around or lids crushing the bun. Measure your biggest burger, or send us your current box, before you order.
Going for the thinnest board to save money
A box that softens with grease or collapses in a delivery bag costs more in complaints and remakes than it saves. The right strength for your food is the one that gets the burger to the customer intact.
Paying for more strength than you need
The opposite mistake. If your burgers are eaten on site or collected, a rigid delivery-grade box may be unnecessary. We'll tell you when a lighter option will do the job.
Designing without seeing it folded
Artwork looks different wrapped around a folded box. Logos can end up on a fold or under a flap. Always check the design on a physical sample before production.
Ordering too much with nowhere to put it
Large runs lower the cost per box but take up space. Ask about UK storage so you can order the volume you need and collect it as you go.

Burger box FAQs
Can burger boxes be custom printed with my logo?
Yes. We print your logo, colours and artwork on the outside of the box, and the inside if you want it. If you don't have artwork ready, we can design it with you at no extra cost.
Can you make burger boxes in a custom size?
Yes. We offer standard sizes and can make boxes to fit your burger. Tell us your bun size and the height of your biggest burger, or send us your current box, and we'll recommend the right dimensions.
What size burger box do I need?
A regular box (around 11 x 11 x 6 cm) suits most single patty and smash burgers, and a large box (around 13 x 13 x 7 cm) suits double stacks and loaded burgers. Anything bigger, or a burger and side together, is best in a custom size. If you're unsure, send us a photo or sample of what you use now.
What is the minimum order for custom burger boxes?
The minimum order for custom printed burger boxes is 10,000 units. If that's more than you have room for, we can keep your boxes in UK storage and you take them as you need them.
Are your burger boxes recyclable?
Yes. Our burger boxes are made from recyclable, food-safe board. As with any food packaging, how a used box is recycled depends on your local collection and how much food is left in it.
Which burger box style should I choose?
Hinged boxes suit most burger shops and delivery. Pre-glued boxes save time in busy kitchens, lidded boxes give tall burgers more room, flower boxes add a premium reveal and open trays suit eating in and street food. Tell us how you serve and we'll recommend one.
Are your burger boxes strong enough for delivery?
They can be. We recommend the strength based on your food and how far it travels. Heavier, saucier burgers and longer delivery journeys suit a more rigid board.
Can I see a sample before ordering?
Yes. Once you're happy with the quote and the proposed box, we prepare a sample so you can put your own burger in it, check the fit and strength, and approve it before production starts.
Do you keep stock for me if I order a large quantity?
We can store your packaging in the UK, so you can order a larger run without keeping it all at your premises and collect it as you need it.
Why don't you show prices on the website?
The price of a burger box depends on size, board, printing, quantity and delivery. Rather than showing a number that may not apply to you, we give every customer a tailored quote. If you already have a target price, you can tell us that too.
What if I don't know which burger box I need?
That's fine. Tell us about your business and what you serve, and we'll recommend the right box. You don't need to know any technical specifications to get started.
How long do custom printed burger boxes take?
Production and delivery typically take 30 to 35 days from the moment you approve your sample and artwork. The quote and sample come before that, so the sooner you get in touch, the better. If you keep stock with us in UK storage, reorders don't have to wait for a new production run.
