What are food delivery boxes?

A delivery box is a stronger food box designed for orders that travel. It needs to stay closed, keep its shape when stacked in a bag or on a bike, and protect food and heat for longer than a counter box.

For many businesses the delivery box is the whole customer experience. There's no dining room and no staff greeting, just a box arriving at the door. A strong, well printed box does a lot of work for your brand.

We'll recommend a size, board and closure based on what you deliver and how far it goes. You test a sample on a real delivery run before production.

Who uses printed delivery boxes?

Delivery-led kitchens, dark kitchens and virtual brands, takeaways with a large app delivery trade, and restaurants sending out larger orders or sharing boxes.

What delivery boxes are suitable for

  • Multi-item orders
  • Sharing and family boxes
  • Heavier or saucy dishes
  • Orders stacked in delivery bags
  • Longer delivery journeys

What can be customised

You don't need to choose every detail. Tell us what you need and we'll recommend the right specification.
  • Size

Made around your largest common order or your sharing boxes.

  • Strength

A more rigid board so boxes hold their shape when stacked and carried.

  • Closure

Locking lids or tabs that stay shut, and can show if a box has been opened when combined with a seal sticker.

  • Printing and design

Full branding on the outside, and a message or offer inside if you like. Free design support.

Choices

Delivery box options, explained

  • Rigid delivery board

The usual choice for delivery. Stays flat and firm under the weight of other orders.

Typically a corrugated board, which has a fluted inner layer for strength and insulation.

  • Lighter board

For short journeys and lighter food, where a lighter box keeps costs down.

  • Tamper-evident closure

Pair the box with a printed seal sticker so customers know their food hasn't been opened.

See it. Test it. Approve it.Once you're happy with the quote, we send a sample to test with your own food before production.
How it works
Choosing

How to choose the right delivery box

  • 01

    How far does it travel?

Longer journeys need more strength and better heat retention.

  • 02

How heavy is a typical order?

Weight decides how rigid the board needs to be.

  • 03

    How is it carried?

Stacked in a bag, carried on a bike, or packed in a car? The box needs to cope with the way your drivers work.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using counter boxes for delivery

Boxes designed for eating on site can crush or open in a delivery bag.

  • Skipping a seal

Customers increasingly expect to see that food hasn't been tampered with. A printed seal sticker is a simple fix.

Delivery box FAQs

What's the difference between a delivery box and a takeaway box?

A delivery box is built to be stronger and stay closed during longer journeys. A takeaway box is often lighter and designed for collection or eating soon after.

Can delivery boxes be custom printed?

Yes, with your logo and branding. We can design the artwork with you at no extra cost.

Can I add a tamper-evident seal?

Yes. We can supply printed seal stickers to use alongside your delivery boxes.

Can I test delivery boxes before ordering?

Yes. Once you're happy with the quote, we'll prepare a sample so you can test it on a real delivery.

How long do custom printed delivery boxes take?

Production and delivery typically take 30 to 35 days from the moment you approve your sample and artwork. The quote and sample come before that, so the sooner you get in touch, the better. If you keep stock with us in UK storage, reorders don't have to wait for a new production run.
