Designing Your First Food Packaging: Logo, Colours and Design Support
No logo yet? No designer? How a new food business can get packaging that looks professional, from choosing colours to using design support.

Designing packaging for the first time can feel like a big task, especially if you do not have a logo yet. The good news is that good packaging design is usually simple. Here is how to approach it.
You do not need a perfect logo
A clear name in a readable font is enough to start. A simple logo or even a stylised version of your business name looks professional when it is printed well. Many new businesses grow their branding over time.
Choose one or two colours
Packaging prints best with a small number of bold colours. Pick one main colour, and add a second if you need one. Kraft paper and white are both popular because they look good with a simple print.
Decide where to print
You do not have to print every item. Start with the places customers see most:
- Bags, which are carried through the street
- Stickers, a small and flexible way to carry your logo
- Napkins, used in almost every order
Add printed boxes or cups as your volume grows.
Keep the design readable
A design needs to be clear on a small sticker as well as a large bag. Avoid fine detail that disappears in printing, and leave space around the logo.
Design support
We design your packaging with you at no extra cost, even if you do not have a logo yet. Tell us about your food and the feel you want, and we will suggest a design.
Test a sample
Once you are happy with the quote, we prepare a sample so you can see how the design looks in your hand and with your food before anything is produced.
Allow time
Production and delivery typically take 30 to 35 days after you approve your sample and artwork.
