Cold Cups, Lids and Straws for a Cafe: What to Choose
Iced coffee, smoothies and soft drinks need different cups, lids and straws. How to pick the right combination for your cafe.

Hot drinks are only part of a cafe's menu. Iced coffee, smoothies, milkshakes and soft drinks all need cold cups, and each has its own demands. Here is how to choose the right combination.
Cold cups
A cold cup has to hold condensation without softening or leaking. Size depends on your menu. An iced latte needs room for ice, milk and coffee, while a smoothie needs a wider cup for a thicker drink. Think about the volume of your biggest drink as well as your smallest.
Lids
The right lid depends on the drink. A flat or domed lid with a straw hole suits iced coffee and soft drinks. A dome gives room for whipped cream or toppings. A lid that fits well matters more than it seems, because a loose lid leads to spills and complaints.
Straws
Straws need to fit the cup, lid and drink. Wider straws suit smoothies and milkshakes, while standard sizes suit iced coffee and soft drinks. Check that the straw works with your lid before you order.
Printed cups for brand recognition
A cold drink is often carried for a longer time than a hot one, so your cup is seen for longer. A printed logo gets noticed on the street, at the office and on social media.
Match the cold range to the hot range
If your hot cups and cold cups share a design, your cafe looks more established. Matching napkins and bags finish the look.
Test with your drinks
Fill a sample with your most demanding drink and leave it for a while. Check for leaks, condensation and how the lid holds up. We prepare samples for you to test with your own drinks before production.
